Linear Raw Scans Photoshop Plugin
Scanning black and white negatives as a Linear Raw Scan (Gamma 1.0) preserves the exact tonal information captured in the negative, without unwanted adjustments from scanning software.
Many modern scanning applications, including VueScan, offer the option to scan using linear gamma 1.0. This workflow ensures you retain maximum tonal data and full control over your black and white conversion process.
However, after creating a linear raw scan, the file must be converted from Gamma 1.0 to a working grayscale space (Gray Gamma 2.2) before further editing in Photoshop.
The Linear Raw Scans Photoshop Plugin simplifies this process. It automatically converts your original Gamma 1.0 scan into a properly prepared Gray Gamma 2.2 working file, ready for professional black and white editing and printing.
Ideal for photographers working with film negatives, DSLR scanning, or dedicated film scanners, this plugin ensures a clean, accurate starting point for your black and white workflow.
